The local community of Penola and especially the children of the Mary MacKillop Memorial School made sure the opening and blessing of the redevelopment of the Woods MacKillop Stable Park and new convent was done very well!

The Sisters of St Joseph of Goulburn have received authorisation from the Congregation of Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life in Rome, to proceed with ‘fusion’, or merger, with the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart.

NSW has new Boarding House Legislation giving Boarding House residents far greater security, safety and protection. Myree Harris rsj, played no small part in this legislation finally being passed!

In late October, over fifty Josephite Associates from across Victoria gathered on successive days at two regional centres to reflect on their Mission of Friendship, Prayer and Service. The days were facilitated by Monica Cavanagh rsj.

On Wednesday, October 24 Mitcham Council honoured Mary MacKillop’s friendship with Joanna Barr Smith and her relationship with the area by unveiling 2 cairns.

Over 170 guests joined the Mary MacKillop Foundation at the Novotel in Brisbane on Friday, November 2 for their Annual Fundraising Dinner.

On Monday,  December 10, a book will be launched to commemorate 125 years of service by the Sisters of St Joseph to the community of Western Australia.

The Gift Shop at Mary Mackillop Place stocks Christmas cards and nativity sets, as well as a range of items suitable for gift giving at Christmas and throughout the year. All purchases support the ministries of the Sisters of St Joseph.

The Josephite Justice Office has condemned the Federal government's new changes to excise the Australian mainland for asylum seekers who arrive by boat, saying the changes "shame us as Australians".

The Mary MacKillop Group at Cana Catholic Primary School, Hillside, Victoria has been very active, visiting the elderly at the Spring Time Nursing Home and learning more about Mary MacKillop through an excursion to the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre in East Melbourne.

The intention of the project was to create connections and understanding for the Year 9 students of our College to our namesake Mary MacKillop and to the Josephite Mission.

Melbourne's MacYAC (MacKillop Young Adult Community) now has a deeper understanding of Mary's words 'We are but travellers here" …

October 11, 2012 marked the 50th Anniversary of the beginning of the Second Vatican Council. Anne Derwin rsj, Congregational Leader, shared her reflections on this event at a recent WATAC conference.
