The second and final assembly for the Fifth Plenary Council of Australia will take place in Sydney from 4-8 July 2022.
At the assembly, the 277 Council Members will consider, discern and vote on the motions in the Framework for Motions that have emerged from that national journey, with the goal of renewing the life and mission of the Church in Australia.
Our co-founder Saint Mary MacKillop is one of the patrons of the Plenary Council, and the Opening Mass of the second assembly will take place at the Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel in North Sydney on Sunday 3 July 2022 at 5:00pm AEST. We invite you to view the live stream of the Mass here.
There will be Masses celebrated everyday during the second assembly (4-8 July), and a Closing Mass (open to the public) will be celebrated at St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney on Saturday 9 July at 10:30am AEST. More information, prayer resources and links are provided below:

The Plenary Council continues to be a journey for the whole Church in Australia. A message wall is being placed at the entry to the assembly venue, allowing Members to read what people around the country are saying to them – their prayers, their hopes, their words of support. If you wish to send a message, complete the form via the Plenary Council website here.
There will be daily content produced during the second assembly that can be found on the Plenary Council’s news page and on the Plenary Council Facebook page.
We invite you to view how we have participated in the Plenary Council journey by viewing previous reflections here.
